Waiting Room

Background: I ended up writing this during my second hour in the waiting area of Toyota. Technology really makes people watching kind of boring, but things still pop up amongst the cell phones, tablets, and television.

“Waiting Room”

One
Gentleman
Tearing out coupons
For pleasure or wife?

Two
Hispanic ladies
Whispering and giggling
Over an unheard joke.

Three
Multi-cultural men
Scanning through
The day’s Wall Street Journal.

One
Gentleman
Studying marketing books
With a notebook full of notes.

Two
Fathers
Trying to shuffle and herd
Their kids to hurry out the door.

Three
Women
Sitting in a row
Ear buds in, ignoring the world.

Four
Service techs
Staring at the vending machine
Debating over soda, juice, and Redbull.

One
Me
Scribbling and people watching
In the waiting room.
