The Thaw

Introduction: I will say this much about this past winter… too short. At least for here in the Vegas Valley, it was extremely short. We literally only had the heater on for 1.5 months. We’ve been sleeping with the ceiling fan on full blast for the last two or three weeks already! Insane!

“The Thaw”

Shortest winter
Known to me
Two weeks
Of barely cold
Dead growth
Among the trees

Quickest thaw
I’ve ever seen
One day
All was brown
The next
Flowers in bloom

24 hours
Green weeds sprout
Birds return
To their nests
New leaves
Grow on branches

Extremely short
Was my winter
The thaw
Is finally here
Spring has
Hit the desert
