Mere Months

Introduction/Background: This is a pre-wedding poem that I had written in February 2014. The thoughts that go through a bride’s head when planning a wedding. I was going almost… almost… crazy. *laughs*

“Mere Months”
(my maiden name)

Eye bags
Stress acne
Extra strands on grey
All I see in a mirrored image

Mere months
Before the day
I say
“I do”

Bouquets and corsages
Suits and dresses
Food and liquor
Please stop thinking

Mere months
Before the party
That seals
“The deal”

The laughter
The surprises
The tickle wars
Bring memories and calm

Mere months
Before all things
“We and ours”

The love
The support
The encouragement
Shared between two persons

Mere months
Before all is set
On a path called
